How to Use Cryptocurrency to Send Money Abroad - Bitcoin News
Mainstream Media coverage of Bitcoin
It blows my mind when reading media articles by reputable sources (Forbes etc..) and they compare Bitcoin to the likes of airline points and tulip mania. Never once do the outline the benefits of the currency besides stating that it is outside of government control and insinuating it is useful only to conspiracy theorist and criminals. I'm from Canada and I'm living abroad in Germany and cryptocurrency is the fastest and cheapest way for me to transfer money back home. That is one tiny benefit (of many) that could help billions of people worldwide. I'd just love to see one mainstream media articles that outline this. "Want to transfer money internationally? Bitcoin could be the solution you've been looking for"
Is bitcoin a better alternative to international money transfer than say, Western Union?
What if instead of using Western Union to send people money, is it not simpler to use something like Bitcoin to do that? Would there be lesser fees? What apps would be relevant for that now? And how would the person turn bitcoin into their countries currency? Bitcoin ATM? Or is there a better way to do that now?
Buy bitcoin with credit card and then immediately sell to transfer money internationally
I regularly transfer money from a Taiwanese bank account to a US bank account. Generally between US$300 and $1000 every one or two months. Typical fees are in the neighborhood of US$15-20 because my bank does not change me for receiving the wire. I'm wondering if it's worth pursuing a bitcoin based solution to my transfers. I've heard it's hard to find a way to buy bitcoin using a Taiwanese bank account. On the other hand, if I can pay with a credit card and get air miles while keeping the fees at or below my current level, I come out ahead. Now I know one downside will be volatility, but ideally I'm not looking to hold the bitcoin for long. Is this viable? Any suggestions for where to buy and then sell so that they money can be transferred into a US account? Are the fees going to be so high that it just won't make sense? Thanks!

How do I do this without incurring the crazy wire transfer fees. I was hoping the bitcoin ecosystem could provide a solution. Apologies if this question has been asked before, in which case, could someone please forward me a link to the original post?
Question about using Bitcoin to transfer money internationally
Is it possible to use Bitcoin to transfer money from a European bank account to the US? If so, how would one do so? What fees would be involved? Would this cause any problems with the bank accounts or red flag me in some way?
How do I convert and transfer money internationally using Bitcoin?
I've never used Bitcoin before, but I've had a passing interest in it for some time, so I have at least a basic theoretical understanding of what it is and how it works. I've never bought or acquired any because, to be honest, it's always seemed to me like a risky investment, and the financial services available to me through traditional banks have been sufficient so far. But now I find myself in a position where Bitcoin could really be helpful to me. I recently moved from the US to the Philippines. Almost all of my disposable income is currently in US dollars, stored in an American bank. I'd like to be able to transfer some of that to either a dollar account or a peso account in a Philippine bank. (Alternatively I'd like to convert it into cash, in pesos, which I could then deposit myself into my peso account). This can take up to several weeks using regular banking services, but I understand that one of the core strengths of Bitcoin is the ability to transfer money across countries quickly and cheaply. So my question is, how would I go about doing this? I had imagined that all I'd need to do is set up a wallet with a service like Coinbase, link both my US and Philippine bank accounts to that wallet, and then it would go: US account Bitcoin wallet Philippine account. But when I looked at Coinbase apparently I could only link it to US bank accounts. So apparently it's a little more complicated than that. What do I do?
How to use bitcoin for international money transfer?
I've been holding on to some bitcoin for some time, I never had any practical use for it, because I earn money in fiat and most (all) of the merchants I regularly interact with do not accept bitcoin. I firmly believe in the near future we will see more and more acceptance, and I would like to be part of the solution. I need to transfer a couple of thousand euro's from europe to Canada. I do have a european bank account, and can make the transfer into my canadian bank account. This will cost me whatever exchange rate the bank charges me from EUR to CAD and another +/- 50 euro transaction costs on top of that. My money will disappear from my european account and in a snappy 2 weeks, it appears on my canadian bank account, and they send me a paper notice of that in the mail. In the end, this system works... I was wondering if there are not more efficient systems to do this with bitcoin that are at the same time cheaper too. I can buy BTC via simple bank transfer and an exchange from my european bank account (I am exposed to the EUBTC exchange rate the exchange offers). As I need CAD to spend, I need to make the opposite transaction. How do I convert BTC into money on my canadian account? Without being exposed to "bad" exchange rates that would cost me more then doing a bank transfer. At the moment I can not figure out a cheaper way to transfer money using bitcoin. Thanks for helping me to try to be a users instead of a holder.
